New electric Volkswagen sedan based on ID.Aero in the works

Volkswagen is one of the premier players in the automotive industry when it comes to electric vehicles. The German automaker already offers multiple EV's in Europe and of course recently introduced the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 here to Canada. With its advanced electric vehicle platform as a starting point, VW has the ability to develop new electrified vehicles very quickly.  The next model to come to North America could be a new electric sedan based on the Volkswagen ID.Aero concept introduced back in June.

The concept is absolutely stunning with a beautiful and luxurious design that reminds us of the previous Volkswagen Passat. Although Volkswagen has not given us many details on its next electric sedan or what it plans to do with the ID.Aero concept, we do believe that some form of electric sedan will join the Volkswagen electric vehicle lineup here in Canada before 2024.

Based on the ID.Aero concept, here's what this new electric sedan could offer.

A spacious interior.  One of the features of the Volkswagen ID.4 that we all love is the impressive interior space and versatility. That is to be expected from the VW electric SUV, but the ID.Aero could be just as spacious like the Passat was back in the day. Judging from the ID. Aero concept, this is a vehicle with a lot of interior space.

Impressive range.  Volkswagen has hinted at more range in its upcoming electric vehicles and the ID.Aero concept is no exception. With over 500 kilometres of all-electric range, the ID.Aero could be one of the most generous luxury electric sedans when it comes to range and electric driving capability. This would come from an impressive 77.0-kWh battery that would also offer quick charging capability. 

Perfect balance of comfort and performance.  Like the Passat offered in the past, we would expect an electric Volkswagen sedan based on the ID.Aero concept to feature a great blend of comfort and performance. The ID.Aero is built like all VW electric vehicles on the Volkswagen MEB platform. This platform is designed to offer the perfect balance of luxury and athleticism, providing all-wheel drive capability as well for perfect traction and handling in any weather.

One of the most impressive elements of the ID.Aero is its aerodynamic profile. With a drag coefficient of just 0.23, the ID.Aero promises to cut through wind resistance, reducing wind noise and improving electric efficiency in the process.
