2024 Volkswagen ID.4 Introduces Key Upgrades for its 82 kWh Battery Options
September 28 2023,
Volkswagen has announced substantial enhancements for its 2024 ID.4 electric compact SUV, primarily focusing on the 82 kWh battery versions. These changes encompass a new performance drive unit, a sophisticated infotainment system, and the addition of a high-quality audio system.
A principal update is the incorporation of a performance drive unit tailored for the 82 kWh versions. This feature is set to boost both the horsepower and overall range of the ID.4. With this enhancement, the rear-wheel-drive model is anticipated to yield an impressive 282 horsepower, while its all-wheel-drive counterpart might produce around 330 horsepower. Apart from augmenting the vehicle's acceleration capabilities, these modifications are also forecasted to expand its EPA-estimated range. Precise range metrics will be shared as the market release date approaches.
The realm of technological advancements isn't confined to performance. The 2024 ID.4 is designed to elevate the user experience. Those opting for the 82-kWh model will benefit from a modern 12.9-inch infotainment display, featuring backlit sliders. This is a significant progression from the 12-inch screen found in the 62 kWh variants. With an overhauled infotainment menu, a revamped climate control interface, a redesigned shifter, and a refreshed steering wheel configuration, the vehicle undoubtedly focuses on user-centric design.
Comfort stands out as a priority for Volkswagen in the 2024 ID.4. To amplify in-vehicle comfort, select 82 kWh models will introduce ventilated front seats. In higher trims, enthusiasts can expect a state-of-the-art audio system, complete with an array of speakers and a dedicated subwoofer.
On the exterior front, the 2024 ID.4 hasn't been overlooked. Basic AWD models will sport upgraded 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, while the upscale models will brandish 21-inch precision-machined alloy wheels.
Prospective purchasers should note that the ID.4's production remains rooted at Volkswagen’s Chattanooga facility in Tennessee. The model will be available across three trim tiers: Standard/Pro, S, and S Plus, with options between the 62 kWh and the enhanced 82 kWh batteries, as well as drive mode preferences of rear-wheel or all-wheel.
Pricing specifics for the 2024 ID.4 remain under wraps but are slated for disclosure preceding its debut in early 2024. A noteworthy point is the eligibility of ID.4 models for potential Federal and Provincial Tax Credits.
